Privacy
Cureight is a place to keep the eight places you'd send a friend to in a city, and to see your friends' eight. This page says what we keep, why, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read.
What we keep
- Your account. A name, a username, an optional photo and bio. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive the name and email they pass along. If you sign in by phone, we keep your number to send you a code.
- Your lists. The places you add, the order you put them in, and any notes you write. Notes are visible to whoever can see your list.
- Who you follow, whose lists you've favorited, and the kudos you give.
- Activity. When you add or swap a place, that shows up in the feed of people who follow you.
- Share links. When you text someone your list, we count how many times the link was opened so you can see it landed.
Your contacts
If you choose to find friends from your contacts, the app turns each phone number into a scrambled code on your phone and sends only the codes. We compare them against codes for people already on Cureight and tell you who matched. We do not store your address book, and we never message anyone in it.
Location
The app can use your location to suggest the city you're in. It's used at that moment and not stored. Places you add are looked up through Google Maps, which receives the search text you type.
What we don't do
- No ads. No selling or renting your information to anyone.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites.
- No ratings, and no reading anything you didn't put in the app.
Who can see what
Accounts are public by default, because a list nobody can see isn't much of a recommendation. You can make your account private in Profile, and then only people you approve can see your lists and activity. You can block anyone; a blocked person disappears from your Cureight and you from theirs.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Supabase on servers in the United States. Sign-in is handled by Apple, Google, or a text-message code. Place search uses the Google Maps Platform. Each of these providers only receives what it needs to do its job.
Deleting everything
Open Profile → Privacy → Delete my account. Your account, lists, notes, follows, favorites and activity are removed immediately and permanently. Nothing is kept in an anonymised form. If you'd rather we do it, email the address below from the address on your account.
Children
Cureight is for people 13 and older. If you believe a younger child has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
